I recorded my roommate Becky's friend, Mai, singing part of a M'Nong song yesterday. Becky is a linguist - she is asking Mai for some books in the M'Nong language, which are quite rare. here's an excerpt:

Hey! I think it's so funny / great that you're taking recordings of Hanoi ambient sounds to share with us. It's exactly the sort of thing I end up doing for work all the time. It often occurs to me in my personal life to try to capture a particular sound and atmosphere, even more than a picture in certain cases, but I don't end up taking enough recordings of it all. Ah anyway, they're very cool, and we'll get to talk about it all soon! :)
